COVENANT  INSTRUCTION

Covenant Instruction is crucial in the raising of godly children. It aims to ground our children in the basics of the Christian faith as well as helping them to apply the teachings of the Bible in everyday life. This instruction is firstly to be carried out at home as this is the primary responsibility of the parents. The church supplements by running a CI programme each Lord's Day. This is not intended to substitute the teaching done by the parents at home. Rather, it provides a good opportunity for the children of the church to interact and learn God's word in a formal and corporate setting.

For the Nursery to K2 group, the emphasis is on teaching them very simple truths through Bible stories, singing, memory verse etc

For the primary and secondary school groups, emphasis is on catechism instruction through a series of questions and answers. Students are expected to memorise the questions and answers each week. Worksheets are used to reinforce the teachings during the class. Catechism instruction is interspersed with some Practical Religion classes. Objective of practical religion is to challenge them to a lively faith and godly walk.

The CI programme in FERC is categorised into different age groups as follows:

  • Nursery to Kindergarten 2
  • Primary 1 to Primary 6
  • Secondary 1 to Secondary 4
